Venice Beach in Los Angeles, CA is the perfect spot to learn to surf.  Its gentle sand bar creates soft waves that are great for beginners.  Also, the sandy bottom is free of rocks and safe to walk on.  In most cases, the surfer will be able to touch the ocean floor. This ability to touch the bottom means a safer surfing experience and added sense of security for the surfer! The location in which I teach, specifically, is typically void of crowds!  During many lessons, there are barely other surfers around, even during peak summer season!  This allows the surfer to focus on their surfing and not worry about running into or obstructing other surfers around them!
